Projects

Competitions, Personal Projects, and Class Work!

Spam Email Classifier (Python)

Built a logistic regression model for the classification of spam emails, achieving a 96.2% accuracy on 8000+ emails. Conducted feature engineering on text data through Pandas, NumPy, Seaborn and Matplotlib. Utilized the scikit-learn machine learning library to fit models; ROC curve analysis for threshold selection; cross-validation, and regularization to avoid overfitting & improve performance. Placed in the Top 30 out of 1100 participants.

Collect the Flower 2D Game (Java)

Created a 2D-tile-based game that generates explorable worlds based on random seeds. Worlds could be saved and loaded from specific instances and timestamps. Players could customize their names. Designed and implemented tile generation, room and hallway creation, keyboard interaction, HUDs, object interaction, win/loss features as well as item collection. Increased the difficulty of the game by adding light sources and toggles.
1500+ lines of code written from scratch!

Housing Price Prediction (Python)

Built a logistic regression model to classify housing affordability categories to ensure fair house price valuations. Conducted exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and cross validation via NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Seaborn. Gained insight into socioeconomic and ethical issues as related to the implementation of algorithms & models in real life. Achieved a testing RMSE of less than 210k and a 90% testing accuracy across 500,000+ housing records in Cook County, Illinois. Placed in the Top 25% of the competition based on my classifications.

Google NGram Viewer + WordNet (Java)
